DOTA 2 WEEKLY RECAP : OCTOBER 10th 2023

Valve bans players, Asian games finals, much-needed nerfs and buffs a week before TI 12, a
disappointing replacement for a battle pass and the lowest prize pool in years for The Internationals.

Let’s see what happened this week in the world of Dota 2.

VALVE BRINGS THE HAMMER DOWN AND BANS DOTA 2 PLAYERS.

Some players have been banned from Dota 2 following the abuse of a bug in the Compendium system.
The players who exploited the bug were able to level up their International Compendium without
purchasing. This isn’t the first time players have taken advantage of a bug in the system, but Valve made it
clear by removing the levels from the players’ accounts and even banning some.

ASIAN GAMES FINALS 2023

Dota 2 daily

With Mongolia securing a spot in the Asian Games finals hoping to win the gold medal of this
tournament.

China and Malaysia battled for the remaining final spot with China succeeding.
The final event was full of surprises with a best of three, all games exceeding the 40-minute mark.

Game 1: Mongolia wins with a Dark Willow carry, dominating the map and leaving no space for China to get back in the game.

Game 2: China picks Ame the Phantom Lancer, ultimately countered by the items
Mongolia was picking up but with a single team fight, China turned the game around and secured a win.

The last game of the series with both teams still in the running for the gold medal, was one of the
greatest games of the competition, with a late game full of buybacks, Roshans, and heated team fights.

Ultimately China managed to win with better positioning and damage output, earning them the golden
medal of the tournament.

THE INTERNATIONAL COMPENDIUM 2023

Dota 2 daily

Valve’s recent release of the TI12 Compendium for Dota 2 has left the gaming community in a state of
dismay.

The Compendium, which traditionally serves as a guide and a means to engage players in the
lead-up to The International has been criticized for its lack of substantial content.

Unlike previous years, this year’s edition does not include any cosmetic items, Immortal Treasures, Rank
Double Down Tokens, exclusive Arcanas, or any other beloved components of the Battle Pass from
previous versions.

Players and pros express disappointment with the compendium 2023, citing the absence of prized
cosmetics. Renowned figures like Fishman, 23savage, and Sneyking voice their grievances, with some
calling the Compendium “sh*t” and “unimpressive”.

THE INTERNATIONALS 2023 PRIZE POOL

The launch of TI12’s Compendium hasn’t been well accepted by a huge part of the Dota 2 community.
Because of this, the growth of this year’s prize pool has been the slowest in years.

The community has so far contributed only 77% of TI 2023’s $2.8 million, which goes to show just how
disappointed players are with the Compendium.

The rate of growth puts the event well behind every TI
since 2015.
