Jurassic World Evolution 2: Overview
Jurassic World Evolution 2 , i mean I’m sure all of us at one point in our lives wanted to own our own dinosaur park. Well now thanks to Frontier you can.
A sequel to Jurassic World Evolution and set after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, from November 9, 2021 we can now own, build and manage our very own Dino-theme park.
Dinosaurs are undeniably cool and are are now a part of the United States’ ecosystem, and we’re learning if we can live with them or maybe just need to run , run some more, maybe hide or become one of their quick snacks.
One thing i might have overlooked is that dinosaurs are an absolute mission to manage when you’re trying to make money in the tourist industry.
The theme park simulator brings all that made the original one great with a few tweaks and some newly added with modes (like chaos mode in which we will cover later on) , new species of Dinos, and cool adjustments to the original games more annoying mechanics.
So to our ARK SURVIVAL Players this might not be what you are used to in terms of Dinosaur games, these Dinosaurs aren’t going to jump off cliffs , run head first into a pack of raptors for you or be your best friend after feeding a berry.
The Stars Of The Show
The Dinos Rightfully the stars of this experience of Jurassic World Evolution 2, with 70 species of unlockable dinosaurs.
From you general land dinosaurs, to aquatic reptiles, and flying Dinosaurs.
highly detailed
- Highly with lifelike animations
- Spot-on sound effect for every dino
- Customization cool-skins
- Enhanced dinosaur realism
They definitely have a bit more life and character in Jurassic World Evolution 2 than in the first original game. One really cool and rather fascinating touch is how the dinosaurs find comfort zones with the enclosure based on its food’s location.
Sometimes we think of dinosaurs as these juggernauts that are indestructible, however in Jurassic World Evolution 2 , they can break bones , get gashed open after a little brawl with the other dinos in the enclosure or get a possible case of the flu.
This then forces you to tranquilize the dinosaur and the call the helicopter to airlift that injured dinosaur to the medical facility. The earl stages of the game with this mechanic can be a little rough and i wont lie a bit tiring and monotonous.
You can however make them a bit stronger and less fragile through research later on, but it is a rough mechanic early game as you struggle to manage your park and get everything on track.
Back to the dinos , I honestly couldn’t believe how realistically the dinosaurs were behaving, i often found myself just zooming in on an enclosure and just watching it and how the dinosaurs behaved and just how natural they looked.
Maps
A wild Stegosaurus battling an Allosaurus through the snow , yup its picturesque right.
This setup after Fallen Kingdom to where we are now of the new story line where dinosaurs are part of the united states allows for and provides an excellent variety in maps.
- Snow-colored fields
- Arid deserts
- Lush forests
- Sprawling lakes
The new and change in scenery helps add an element and somewhat new feel again which then brings that excitement and eager to play experience again.

Campagin
A glorified tutorial unfortunately the campaign lacked a bit for me, the main storyline of the campaign follows the storyline after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where humans now have to co-live with dinosaurs roaming the United Sates Of America and are forced into a sort of “Jurrasic Age.”
I mean it was cool to have Jeff Goldblum impressionist talk you through this brave new world
.
However looking at the first games campaign , I prefer it vastly over this one where it somewhat pushed the player to really excel at theme park management and development , it definitely was a lot more challenging.
Jurassic World Evolution 2’s campaign unfortunately doesn’t go that way, it is mainly focused on herding dinosaurs and you have to compete one objective after the other sitting waiting when you can get to the cool stuff like genetically altering a dinosaur to make some new hybrid bad boy that will help you rule the world.
Not all of it is bad there some some interesting moments , taking photos of dinos from a helicopter or tracking a dino with a mouth full of teeth that might just decide to wonder off into your friendly neighborhood for an afternoon snack.

Chaos Mode
Want to reenact the films ? well the chaos mode is where you want to be.
The short campaign could be a blessing in disguise as once you get to chaos made the true fun begins and really allows you to fully embrace the the “theme-park” building experience.
Its the WHAT IF factor to all 5 Jurassic movies.
You have the chance to rewrite history , starting with with John Hammond turning to you to assist in building the first Jurassic Park.
Personally i think the best levels are the clean up of the aftermaths from the movies, carnivores roaming everywhere due to the busted fences, trying to herd up the herbivores that are just not keen with the idea of you trying to tranquilize them.
These seniors are rather mad and stressful at times but they truly keep you on your toes and invested in the game. There are five different levels one for each movie and they really and truly embrace the look and feel of all five films.
Can I Speak To Your Manager

So firstly lets set some basic costs for our park for example ticket and snack prices, oh wait oops you cant. There were some aspects of the management system that i wasn’t to impressed with.
The constant micromanaging can be so tedious and outright annoy a lot of the time especially when disasters
This game feels as if it is too heavily focused on micromanaging For example in the first Chaos Mode mission you have to cure the dinosaurs of the common cold or lets say your dinosaurs get into a bit of an argument and you need to mend their wounds .Sounds pretty simple right.
Well.. its not
lets say pair of your raptors keep having a boxing match leading to concussion/fracture/organ damage.
Grab a vet van, send him out to find out WHAT the injury is. Now that he knows what it is, even though he can treat it as this is his specialty, you have to manually select the vet van again and heal the dinosaur.
He wont just heal it on his own accord, despite it being the same unit that treats minor injuries and diseases.
Wait now there is a major injury.
Well now you have to take your ranger helicopter, and tell him to tranquilize the little UFC Wannabe. Then make a call up to the helicopter delivery team and send the UFC wannabe to the infirmary for that MAJOR injury.
Its not finished, then allocate one of your very limited scientists to remote control some super sci-fi robot arms to spray some disinfectant spray on the dinosaur for another 50 seconds.
Your UFC raptor is healed , time to take it back to its enclosure, well guess what you have to manually do it as well.
eEd of story right nope sometimes just to add a bit of spice to the mix , you drop your raptor off and apparently the grudge match never ended and within a couple of seconds of dropping him off after that whole ordeal , they are busy slapping each other around again.
So now you have to repeat that five minute long, multi staged, completely manual task all over again.
Maybe a possible cooldown on dinosaurs boxing matches should be in place after a dinosaur has just come back from “ICU”.
I feel there is a bit too much micromanagement and tedious manual tasks that could have possibly been slightly automated , as i mean it feels like you just trying to plug one hole after another and as that one is filled ten more appear.
Guests
There are four types of guests, they all have more complex needs and all are looking for different things from your park.
- General
- Adventure
- Nature
- Luxury
Get familiar with these guests and options on how to keep guests happy as unfortunately the game doesn’t do a great job of walking you through this and how key it is to your financial stability.
So before buying/building some overly sized enclosure.

Conclusion
The dinosaurs look fantastic and offer a variety of new skins. The environments also look great, but Power and employee management can be pains.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 made many giant steps forward but also has also a number of steps backwards.
there are many fun and exciting aspects to the game that can keep you invested but there to are thing that can definitely frustrate one to the point of just not bothering with the game anymore.
The campaign was rather dull but chaos mode shine and makes you forget about it.
Sandbox Mode is definately the most fun, it combines everything and is less stressful.
If you love management simulators / park building with a little added stress and are able to be very patient then Jurassic World Evolution 2 is just for you.
The game is fun and has many cool aspects to it but , in my opinion maybe rather buy it when its on special and you know you have a lot of time to kill. As you’ll be playing it for months.
